It’s already been over a year since the declaration of a global pandemic that brought a heightened appreciation of the “freedom” that we always took for granted.
With the number of new infections still quite significant, Mauritian authorities have extended the lockdown till 30 April, even if certain essential services are allowed to operate. Our borders will remain closed till 31 May. With almost 25% of the local population vaccinated already, the authorities are aiming at a gradual easing of entry restrictions as from end of June. By that time, at least 60% of the population should be vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity.
